Software for the assistant you already use. Otis has no app. It is a business records service your AI assistant works with directly, over MCP.

Why Otis is MCP-only

  • Work starts with a request.

More and more client work begins by asking an AI assistant: draft this, check that, log those hours. The assistant is becoming the place where work starts and where it gets finished.

  • Small software doesn’t need a screen.

For micro apps and micro SaaS, a dashboard is one more place to open, learn and keep in sync with the conversation. When an assistant can do the asking and the writing, an interface for people to click through adds little.

  • It needs an interface for AI.

What such software does need is a precise interface for the assistant: named tools, strict rules and records it can rely on. That is what the Model Context Protocol is for.

  • So Otis is MCP-only.

Otis keeps the records and enforces the rules: money in whole cents, work billed once, an invoice issued only when you approve its total. Your assistant does everything else, in the app you already use. We think a lot of small software will be built this way.

We run our own billing on it. Our hours are logged in the same chat where the work is done, costs we pay for clients are billed back as they happen, and at the end of the month each invoice is drafted, checked and approved in one conversation. Every rule on this site is one we rely on ourselves.

A note from Stefan

More and more client work now happens in conversation with an AI assistant. The work gets done there, and the record of it ends up buried in a chat history, to be rebuilt from memory when it is time to invoice. Otis keeps that record.

It has no app on purpose. Your assistant is already where you work, and a dashboard would be one more place to keep in sync. Otis stores the facts, checks the arithmetic, and will not issue an invoice until you have approved its exact total.

It runs no AI of its own, and it is free. Running it costs little, and startup support from Cloudflare and Anthropic covers that.

Otis is early, and early software is awkward in places nobody thought to check. If it does something strange, or doesn’t do something you need, tell me. Everything sent to support@otisbase.com reaches a person, usually me.

If you would rather write to me directly, I am at contact@otisbase.com. How Otis handles your data, and who is responsible for it, is in the Privacy Policy, the Terms of Service and the Data Processing Agreement.
